The Central Task Management (CTM) is an information system designed to support the registration of tasks and the control of their statuses and progress. The CTM system solves the input and distribution of tasks around the organizational structure, and includes an automatic signaling system, which provides early warnings of approaching task deadlines. The CTM maintains records of meetings and their participants, including overviews of the tasks approved, and it can subsequently distribute them to appropriate persons according to a hierarchical organizational structure.

The system was introduced into operation in 1997.

The objectives set for the CTM project by the management and the supervisory units included in particular increased efficiency of supervision and monitoring of the personnel's workload and of the task completion status.

The personnel demanded a powerful tool for maintaining an overview of the tasks set and for receiving early warnings of approaching task deadlines.

The application allows to delegate the rights of authorized persons in order to minimize the time losses during the task allocation and fulfillment. It facilitates the problem solving during the completion of tasks, while ensuring that individual employees are kept informed. In the event of such a situation, the blocking of a specific task is secured, until partial problems and obstacles are overcome.

The CTM application supports teamwork, and allows to set the duration of each team. Authorized personnel may supervise the progress of the task fulfillment and, if necessary, may reassign a task with a commentary.

As it was necessary to ensure an adequate level of security for the system, the MS Windows NT platform was chosen for the CMT. The server uses the MS SQL 6.5 database system for the storage of data, which ensures the complete protection of records and their processing in the required time and volume. Due to the necessity of the system's versatility, the communication between the SQL server and its clients is done by e-mail, through which individual users get information about assigned tasks and about the statuses of their completion. Such a solution allows to provide information also for those employees who do not have direct access to the client application. The client side uses Gratex's new development tool, Visual SQL Browser, which merges the advantages of easy control of the CTM application and the possibility to meet new requirements in a simple and quick way. The pros of such a technological platform, when applied to the processing of highly confidential information, include the fact that such an environment, with its inherent security and protection features, ensures a high standard of data protection against unauthorized access.
