The System of Obligatory Reporting (SPOV) is designed for the creation
of statistical reports about the data in the production systems of Veobecná
úverová banka, a.s., mainly for the needs of the National Bank
of Slovakia (NBS) and partly for VUB's internal needs.
SPOV is a system that allows automatic generation of pre-defined reports (with
a fixed or variable number of lines) from the data selected from VUB's production
systems (IDS, ILP, HÚK, IMMS, GENESSIS, IS, Rebecca). In the framework
of the SPOV project, the creation of the so-called obligatory reports, i.e.
the reports VUB has to submit regularly to NBS (daily, each ten days, monthly,
quarterly) in the form of reports is resolved.

The whole SPOV system is built on the MS WINDOWS NT platform. The server
side uses the MS SQL Server 6.5 database system. The client side uses
an application programme written in the MS Visual Basic programming language.
Basic description of the functionality:
SPOV server side:
- Stores the definitions of individual reports (numbers of lines/columns, formatting of figures, descriptions, etc.)
- Stores pre-calculated values of reports at certain times for later use
- Carries out batch processing
- Creates a standardized base for the calculation of reported figures from the data in the Data Warehouse (DWH) system
- Pre-calculates in parallel the values of the reports for VUB's elementary organizational units
- Generates selected reports in MS Excel for selected VUB's organizational units
- e-mails selected reports from VUB's individual organizational units to users
SPOV client side:
- After finishing batch processing on the SPOV server, it allows to generate ad-hoc reports in Excel (for selected dates and organizational units)
- Defines and carries out checks of internal reports and between reports
- Defines code lists (planner of the number of reports, distribution lists, etc.)
- Enters parameters into the pre-calculation of the values in the reports
- Defines reports (through a generator of stored procedures and the SQLing tool)
After the completion of nigh-time batch processing in production systems, the
SPOV system waits for the completion of the import of necessary data extracts
from VUB's insurance system into DataWarehouse (DWH).
After the completion of the import, pre-defined checks of the correctness of
the imported data are made, and the so-called final base for the calculation
of reports is created, above which the calculation of individual SPOV reports
is made.

The history of the values of the calculated cells in the reports is stored
in database tables on the SPOV system's SQL server. After the completion of
the batch processing of reports in the SPOV system, the reported results are
passed on to the Control D system, or, through an SPOV application, users can
generate reports into MS Excel, where their further processing is possible.
