Using MediaPlanner, Radio Kiss and the whole Radionet network obtained smart and up-to-date
broadcast planning tool, allowing transmission time to be managed effectively. Due to the quick
and highly professional reaction to all demands, radio stations and their clients found advantages
of the system in planning advertising campaigns. Introducing the system rendered the planning process
less severe, while the overall performance has increased.
The Radio station Kiss Hády covers a network of radio stations including Kiss 98 fm
in Prague, Kiss Hády in Brno, Kiss Proton in Plzeň, Kiss Morava in Ostrava, Kiss Jižní
Čechy in České Budějovice, Kiss Publikum in Zlín, Kiss Delta in Mladá Boleslav, Radio Beat
in Prague, Country Radio in Prague and the gap filler of the Prague frequency broadcasting
from Kolín, Liberec, Tábor and Pardubice, as well as the RadioNet media representation.
Situation
The Radio station Kiss Hády used several information systems. The process of collecting partial
data was labor-intensive and ineffective. Creating reports was not flexible and did not reflect the
requirements for creation of documents to analyze business cases and for the operation of business
departments. An important reason for change was the necessity for operation of a single system for
all departments active in advertising broadcasting (management, business, economics, and production
departments) and the opportunity to share information in the network. Security, administration and
effective access to data were also a problem for the radio station.
Business Aims
The aim of implementation of the new IS was to improve the speed and efficiency of management processes.
Its implementation was expected to reduce labor intensity and error rates in the collection of
information and to simplify the creation of reports and statistics. Efficient management of
advertising campaigns was also required. The security of the documents stored and making the
information in the documents available were among other required functionalities.
Solution
The Microsoft Windows unified platform responds to the needs of the user and the conditions
for development of a client application. During development, emphasis was put on uniqueness
of data input into the system and intuitive use of the client application. By introduction of
the integrated MediaPlanner information system, a product developed by Gratex International,
data from several non-cooperating systems were united. The intensity of collection of partial
data decreased. Efficient overviews and analyses were able to be created.
Several users from various departments inputting the required data and starting the
necessary automated processes leading to final planning and broadcasting of an advertising
campaign collaborate in inputting the campaign. The entire complicated process is controlled
and directed by a set of defined limitations so that optimum distribution of advertising campaigns
according to the needs of the radio station is reached.
The economic module is used above the advertising planning module, providing for
issue of tax documents depending on tax rules and conditions in the radio.
The transfer to Microsoft platform allowed for increased performance, providing the necessary
security level and inspection and automation of basic processes. From the beginning of development,
products from the Microsoft Office package were expected to be used for displaying output values
(lists, overviews, printing of documents) due to their wide use and simple operation.
Benefits
The implementation of the new IS met all requirements, introduced a unified process to the
radio stations and removed data security and administration risks. Optimization of processes
in the radio stations on the basis of a new information system increased the comprehensibility
and verification of preparation, production and broadcast of nationwide and local advertising campaigns.
Unifying the analytic results increased the comprehensibility of effects of nationwide campaigns.
Also, the economics of the radios in different regions became clearer, linked to procedures in
management of radio stations, providing for their development and competitive abilities. The new
IS eliminated duplication of data in the system and reduced the time necessary for the input thereof.
